The first
phase of the project Mobile Parliament
(April - June 2003)
The democracy as a process represents
ruling of the majority of individuals and it is functioning
best when the citizens are informed and involved in the
decision-making process.
From the
period of the independence of R Macedonia, until the
electing of this parliament composition, it was not done
much to inform the citizens about the work of the
legislative home.
The basic function of the members of parliament,
representing the needs and interests of the citizens trough
enacting laws for their needs, was a little bit forgotten.
Citizen
association MOST decided to help citizens and bring them
closer to their elected representatives in the legislative
home,
to establish
ways
of mutual
communications and
for that purpose, MOST started the realization of the
project “Mobile Parliament”.
The mission
of this project is to educate the citizens on their rights
and obligations in the period between two election
processes, their involvement in the decision-making process,
increasing the responsibility of the MP’s, and to
strengthening the relation between members of parliament and
citizens.
The basic goal
of the
project is improving the communication between the MPs and
the voting body as well as closening the Parliament to the
citizens.
To make
this goal real we used two methods:
-
Rising
the awareness of the citizens trough medium and public
champagne (leaflets, posters, TV, interviews and public
appearances)
The
mission of this project is to educate the citizens on their
rights and obligations in the period between two election
processes, their involvement in the decision-making process,
increasing the responsibility of the MP’s, and to
strengthening the relation between members of parliament and
citizens.
