Background/Summary/Basic info
Since 2002, through a nationwide network of trained domestic election observers and the use of state-of-the-art tabulation methodologies, MOST has been at the forefront of citizen efforts to ensure legitimate and democratic elections in Macedonia.
Overall objective
To increase the transparency of the election process and the accountability of the election officials, by involving the citizens in the process as domestic non-partisan observers.
Specific objectives
- Ensuring citizens participation in the process of domestic non-partisan monitoring of elections;
- Ensuring the respect of the rule of law in the course of voting procedure at the polling station;
- Increased awareness among citizens on their rights and obligations related to the audit of the official Voters list of RM.
MOST is Macedonia’s leading authority in domestic monitoring of the conduct of free and fair elections. Through the monitoring of 8 national elections, 4 local elections and 3 referenda, MOST has recruited, trained and deployed 30.000 citizens as volunteers/domestic observers of elections.
